You will enjoy a clear view of the snow-capped mountains from the lake, and probably even from your hotel room, only 20 or so kilometres away. Pokhara has far more to it than its laid-back elegance. It also boasts a thriving adventure-sports industry: it is arguably the finest location on the globe for paragliding and is lined by rivers of white water. There is an interesting museum devoted to a world-famous soldier called Gurkha. And finally, it is the gateway to and beyond the world-famous treks in and across the range of Annapurna.
